Xerox Assignment
In storing my assortment of various hands in a bin in my room, taking them out left them in a sort of crumpled jumble. Somehow this just seemed like it made sense visually. I found Dadaism to be really interesting and freeing in a way, that art can almost be an accident, and not just that it happens to be, but that it is supposed to be. I wanted to see what the hands and arms would look like if I slowly spread them out and they begin to free themselves. It looks like it would have been a struggle, it feels very frantic and like the hands have energy even when they are not moving. Even though in reality it's just a pile of paper, the black and white color scheme along with the image of palms pressed up against glass carries its own eerie emotion with it. In the spirit of things, I felt like I didn't need to confound the energy that was already there by making things too structured or forced. It just exists as what it is.
